Studies on Male-sterility of Sunflower (Helianthus annuus L.) I. Study on Genetic Male-sterility of Sunflower
S. Y. Hsieh and M. C. Chang
The crossing between a genetic male-sterile came from Canada used as female and S5 36 etc. four inbred lines that used as male obtained 1163 F2 plants. Among these offspring, 880 plants were male-fertile and 283 plants were male-sterile. Their segregation ratios of male-fertile to sterile were 3:1.
The result suggested that g.m.s. is caused by a single recessive gene.
