本研究首次發現瓜實蠅（Bactrocera cucurbitae）在不同環境背景下對顏色之感受性不同。在萊豆田及絲瓜田的試驗中發現，於棚架內遮蔭環境下，以藍色黏紙對瓜實蠅的誘引效果明顯優於黃色黏紙，且所誘得之雌蟲較雄蟲為多。但在隧道式洋香瓜田的試驗中，於開放式光照充足環境下，以黃色黏紙對瓜實蠅的誘引效果較藍色黏紙為佳。初步推測可能在光照不同的環境下，黏紙反射出的光譜或強度不同，影響瓜實蠅對顏色的感受性。藍色黏紙捲成圓筒狀或對摺成平板型所誘得之瓜實蠅蟲數無顯著差異。單張黏紙面積及2 張黏紙面積所誘得之瓜實蠅蟲數也無顯著差異。從藍色黏紙在絲瓜園所誘得之瓜實蠅數量變動情形，可看出在7∼9月期間，於7月25日達高峰後開始下降，9∼12月期間，雌蟲大約於種植後一個月數量開始增加，而雄蟲則再晚雌蟲一個月才開始出現。密度消退時，以雄蟲密度先降，雌蟲在瓜園之活動期較長。雌蟲在瓜園之早出現及晚消退，應與在瓜園之產卵行為有關。
Comparing the Trapping Efficacy of Yellow and Blue Sticky Papers on Bactrocera cucurbitae

The present study found that Bactrocera cucurbitae has different sensitivity to colors in different environments. In the shaded area under frames of lima bean and loofah, blue sticky paper has better luring effect than yellow sticky papers and attracts more females than males. On the contrary, in PE sheet-tunnel cantaloupe field, under abundance sun exposure, yellow sticky papers are more effective than the blue sticky papers. The preliminary hypothesis is that under different quantity of sunlight exposure, the reflected optical spectrum and intensity are different in these two conditions. This in turn affects the sensitivity of melon flies to these two traps. However, the shape of blue sticky papers (cylinder or folded flat) as well as the square measure (single or double paper size) had no significant impact on the luring effect. In terms of the population growth and decline in loofah gardens, it was found that from July to September, the population reached maximum on July 25th. From Septembers to December, the flies increased one month after the planting took place while male emerged later than female. However, the population of male declined earlier while female continued to be active in the field for an extended time. It is postulated that the early emergence and late decline of female population may be associated with their ovipositing behavior.

Current materials utilized in luring Bactrocera cucurbitae such as sticky papers, luring trap and glue spray are all in yellow color.

Under shading, blue sticky paper is better than the traditional yellow ones.

Reduce the fruit damage, improve the yield and quality of fruits and thus, farmer’s profit is increased.
