由台南縣麻豆鎮及嘉義市星辰花栽培區採集之萎凋病株，分離得具病原性之病原細菌，將細菌懸浮液以棉花棒塗抹於經針刺傷口的葉片後 14天，接種葉片葉脈轉為紅色，逐漸黃化萎凋，呈現與田間相同病徵。經Biolog 全自動菌種鑑定系統鑑定為 Burkholderia caryophylli 。 無論莖基部針刺接種、葉片噴霧接種或根圈灌注接種，植株在接種後呈現罹病葉片葉脈變紅，25-40天萎凋死亡的典型病徵，顯示病原細菌可藉由傷口或自然開口侵染植株，亦可經由根部感染。病原細菌在維持濕潤的介質中，一年後尚具有強致病力。介質含菌量在 1.75× 10 3 c fu/g以下，植株不易罹病。 不同花色品系之星辰花對病原細菌的感受性稍有差異，但均不具抗病性。室內藥劑篩選結果顯示 氫氧化銅、鹼性氯氧化銅、歐索林酸、多保鏈黴素、鏈四環黴素、嘉賜銅及三元硫酸銅均有抑菌效果。

Studies on Bacterial Wilt of Statice

Plants of statice with wilting symptoms were collected at fields in Matou Township and Chiayi City . Following Koch's postulates and the identification system of Biolog Microstation TM ID, the pathogen was identified as Burkholderia caryophylli . Three types of inoculation method, i.e., spraying of the pathogen on leaves, the stems were wounded with sharp needle and then sprayed, and rhizospheres were drenched with bacterial suspension, were tested to verify its pathogenicity. Typical symptoms were all observed in the plants with one of the three methods 25-40 days after inoculation. The pathogen can survive as long as one year in the moist growth medium. If inoculum density is reduced to less than 1.75×10 3 cfu/g in the medium, the infectivity disappeared. No resistant variety was observed in this study. The results showed that pesticides Copper hydroxide, Copper ox chloride, Oxolinic acid, Atakin, Streptomycin hydrochloride +Tetracycline, Kasugamycin hydrochloride +Copper oxychloride and Tribasic copper sulfate in vitro were able to inhi bit the growth of the pathogen.
