¡@¡@The operation flow of the garlic clove dividing, selecting & grading machine was designed according to the manual process of dividing garlic cloves by hand or stamping; separating garlic film, stem, and impurity through wind selection; and manually selecting and removing damaged garlic cloves. And the actual garlic clove dividing, selecting and grading test was carried out during the proper sowing time. The results show that the clove dividing, selecting and grading ability was above 1,000 kg/hr, the damage increase ratio below 3%, the single clove ratio above 97%, the impurity ratio below 1.6%, and the grading accuracy above 97%. If two persons work together, each hectare requires 0.25 person per day. Calculated on the basis of the above, the cost of mechanical operation is $0.51/kg and $526/hectare. In case of manual clove dividing, selecting and grading work, each hectare requires 12.1 persons per day. And the cost of manual operation is calculated to be $9.4/kg and $9,680/hectare. In comparison with manual work in the aspect of working time, mechanical operation can save 11.85 persons per day for each hectare, that is, to save more than 97.9% of working time. In terms of the operating cost, manual work requires $9,680 per hectare, whereas mechanical operation requires only $526 per hectare. The use of this machine can save $9,154 per hectare when compared with the manual work, that is, to save 94.6% of operating cost.
