水稻新品種台南9號之育成

摘  要

莊商路、林國清.1986.水稻新品種台南9號之育成。台南區農業改良場研究彙報20:1~9。

台南9號為本場嘉義分場新育成之水稻粳稻品種,原品系名稱為台南育181號,係民國68年第1期作以豐產,強稈之新竹育467號與抗病,米質優良之台南育162號雜交,而於民國70年第1期作選出,經各級產量比較試驗(含耐肥性檢定),全省區域試驗及各項病蟲害檢定、米質檢定、米飯試食等結果,其豐產性與台農67號相若,且具抗稻熱病強,米質優良、米飯好吃,強稈不易倒伏、耐肥性強、種子稍具休眠性等特性,為適於本省第1、2期作,中間作栽培之品種。


A New Developed Rice Variety “Tainan 9”

Summary

Tainan 9 is a new Japonica rice variety, named and released in June 1985, developed by Chiayi Branch Station Tainan DAIS.  Its original name is Tainan–Yu 181, selected from a cross between Hsin-Chu-Yu 467 and Tainan-Yu 162 made in the 1st crop 1979.  From its parents, it possesses good grain quality, resistance to Rice blast, and high yielding.  It also has a strong stem and tolerance to high rate nitrogen application.  It is a medium-late maturing variety; the total growth duration is 145 days in the 1st crop and 103 days in the 2nd, similar to that of popular variety Tainan 67.  Both its plant height and tillering capacity are medium.  89.7 cm height in the 1st crop and 99.5 cm in the 2nd, 14.6panicles per plant in the 1st crop and 13.0 panicles in the 2nd.  In grain yielding, the variety produced 6585 kg/ha in the 1st crop and 6260 kg/ha in the 2nd, both with 0.2% over and less than those of Tainan 67, respectively.  The cooking quality appeals to this country people.

Because of good grain quality, good cooking quality and high yielding, Tainan 9 has well accepted by farmers and merchants since released, and now has been introduced to country towns for a comparative scale cultivation by a plan of this country government.  Expect this variety will be helpful to this country people’s living quality and farmers’ income.
