Relation between Density of Trichomes and Incidence of Powdery mildew on Cantaloupe, Cucumis melo L.
A. H. Cheng and C. C. Tu
The relation between the severity of powdery mildew disease and the length and density of trichomes of 10 varieties of cantaloupe, Cucumis melo L., was investigated. It was found that the length of trichome showed negative but the density of it expressed positive relation with the severity of the disease. The results strongly suggested that morphologic resistance to powdery mildew was existed among varieties of cantaloupe.
