A Test on the Nursery Herbicides
T. T. Huang
This study had been carried out from 1976 to 1977 in Chia-yi Branch Station of the Tainan District Agricultural Improvement Station. Three kinds of herbicides were tested, they are: (1) 13% Saturn-M granule. (2) 5% Machete granule and (3) 44.1% Basagram L. In view of the results obtained in this study, some suggestions could be proposed as follows:
1. Seed bed must be prepared properly before the application of the herbicides. Ti is required to scatter Saturn-M or Machete granule 30 kg/ha uniformly on the bed. It is better to smooth the surface of bed before sowing rice seeds and it should keep the soil in moist condition at least 3 to 5 days.
2. It is recommended to spray 200 times diluted solution of Basagram 3 liters per hectare on nursery at the 10th day and the 5th day before transplanting the rice seedlings for the first crop season and the second crop season, respectively.
3. All of those herbicides tested in these experiments gave satisfactory results for weeds control in nursery.
